Policy | Carpooling

Carpooling Policy

Calgary Basketball Academy (CBA) does not organize, coordinate, supervise, or endorse transportation or carpooling arrangements for any CBA activities or events.

Parents, players, and volunteers may choose to arrange shared transportation (carpooling) independently; however, any such arrangements are made entirely at their own discretion and risk and are not affiliated with or sanctioned by CBA.

Insurance & Liability

CBA’s insurance does not provide coverage for any individual participating in a carpool arrangement related to CBA activities. All drivers and passengers participating in a carpool are solely responsible for maintaining their own vehicle, liability, and personal insurance coverage.

CBA is not responsible for, and will not reimburse, any damages, losses, injuries, or expenses arising from carpooling arrangements.

Responsibility for Arrangements

All carpool arrangements are the sole responsibility of the individuals involved. CBA will not be involved in arranging, coordinating, approving, or communicating carpool opportunities.

This includes carpooling involving coaches. Any player, parent, or family member who independently arranges transportation with a CBA coach does so outside of the coach’s role with CBA. Coaches who participate in any form of carpooling do so independently and without affiliation to CBA. CBA does not insure or assume responsibility for any carpooling involving coaches, players, parents, volunteers, or any other individuals associated with CBA.

Screening & Due Diligence

CBA does not conduct criminal background checks, driver record checks, vehicle safety inspections, or verification of vehicle insurance for the purposes of carpooling.

Individuals considering a carpool arrangement are solely responsible for satisfying themselves regarding the suitability, qualifications, driving history, vehicle condition, and insurance coverage of any person with whom they choose to carpool.

Assumption of Risk & Indemnification

Any individual who enters into a carpool arrangement related to a CBA activity does so voluntarily and accepts all risks associated with that arrangement.

By participating in a carpool, individuals agree to indemnify and hold harmless Calgary Basketball Academy from any claims, damages, losses, or liabilities that may arise, directly or indirectly, from such carpooling arrangements.
